About Range Hoods:
Mounting Types:
- Wall Mounted Range Hood: If your range top or oven is up against the wall, then you would select a wall mounted range hood. Wall mounted range hoods fit ceilings up to 9' standard, but are available with extensions for up to 10' walls.
- Island Mounted Range Hood: If your range or oven is located centrally on a kitchen island, then you would select an island mounted range hood. Standard, these will hang down from a ceiling 9' high, but chimney extensions can be purchased for ceilings up to 10' high.
- Chimney Extensions: If your ceiling is not taller than 9", you do not need to add chimney extensions. If your ceiling is over 108", then add on the chimney extensions with your range hood. The chimney extension kits are compatible with ceilings up to 10', or 120", high.
Vent and Ducts
- A ducted vent, meaning a duct carries the exhaust air outside the home, is the most desirable set up to remove odors grease and heat. If for some reason you do not have an air duct established or cannot install one, we carry re-circulation kits that are compatible with all of our range hoods.
- Re-Circulating Kit: This is only necessary if your kitchen requires ductless venting. If you have an established air duct for the range hood, you will not need this kit. If you do not plan on connecting your range hood to an air duct, then you need order the recirculating kit for proper performance.
Centrifugal Fans
- Centrifugal fans are more efficient and quieter than standard rotary fans, offering higher CFM (cubic feet per minute) ratings than cheaper models. This means they will clear out smoke, odors, and heat quicker than their counterparts.
- Sones are a universal measure of noise, the lower the number, the lower the noise. One sone is equal to the sound of a quiet refrigerator running. The sone range shown offers the sone measure at speed one and speed 6 for comparison.
